Chalet at the foot of the ski slopes

Val d’Isère: a benchmark resort for chalet «skiing at your feet» offers»

In the chalet rental market at the foot of the slopes, only a few ski resorts stand out clearly, both in terms of the number of options and the quality/luxury of the properties. And Val d’Isère is one of them! A panorama of the best:

The best places to rent a chalet at the foot of the slopes

Les 3 Vallées – Courchevel

Les 3 Vallées offers a wide selection of luxury chalets to rent at the foot of the slopes, especially in the Bellecôte, Cospillot, Chenus and Jardin Alpin neighborhoods.

The market is very upscale (spa, pool, hotel service) with weekly rental prices that can range from €15–20,000 to €100,000, or even more for iconic products during peak season.

Méribel

Important offer of chalets, often a few meters from the slopes or a green/blue piste (neighborhoods like Rond-Point des Pistes, Altitude 1600, etc.).

In Méribel, the atmosphere is more “village-like” than in Val Thorens, with many individual chalets.

Val Thorens / Les Menuires / Reberty 2000

Val Thorens is a resort that is predominantly residential, but you can also find contemporary chalets with ski-in/ski-out access (e.g., the Pégase, Véga, and Orion chalets).

In Reberty 2000 (above Menuires), several chalets are literally right on the blue piste.

Snow is guaranteed from November to April at these 3 resorts (altitude), and renting a chalet at the foot of the slopes will be cheaper than at Courchevel/Méribel at a comparable standard.

Espace Killy: Val d’Isère & Tignes

Val d’Isère is experiencing a major development in the supply of luxury chalets for hire with ski-in/ski-out or almost ski-in access to the slopes (Bellevarde, Le Fornet, La Daille, etc.).

In Tignes, the architecture is more “residential” than in its neighbor Val d’Isère, but more and more chalets are being built in the immediate vicinity of the slopes (Val Claret, 1800).

Also, Espace Killy is a very sporty and very safe ski resort, with a range of chalets that go up in price as you go up the mountain., Especially in Val d’Isère, a resort renowned for its offer of luxury chalet rentals at the foot of the slopes…

Paradiski: La Plagne & Les Arcs

The “balcons” station in La Plagne was almost entirely designed for skiing right on the slopes, with many chalets or small apartment-chalets.

Arc 1950 is a pedestrian village, with many chalet-style residences at the foot of the slopes, with integrated services.

In Vallandry/Peisey, you will find some individual chalets with quick access to the slopes.

The Portes du Soleil: Avoriaz, Morzine, Les Gets

Avoriaz is a 100- % foot pedestrian-only resort designed for skiing: almost all rental accommodations (chalets and residences) overlook the slopes or are very close to them.

Morzine & Les Gets

Morzine and Les Gets are less “100% % ski-in, ski-out”, but several chalets are very well located there (on the edge of the piste or a few steps from the lifts) with spa facilities, services, etc.

If the altitude is lower, the village setting, the charm, and a very good mix of chalets and slopes might appeal to those who prioritize the atmosphere.

Megève

Megève has a very large fleet of luxury chalets at the foot of the slopes, some of which are literally right at your feet (Rochebrune, Mont d’Arbois), others within a short distance of the slopes with a chauffeur service.

If Val d’Isère appeals to you, do not hesitate to contact us for a chalet rental (max 8 to 10 people) or an apartment (max 2 to 3 people) ideally located at the foot of the slopes!
